Sandton Probus feel the Christmas cheer

MILL HILL – Sandton Probus hosts a successful Christmas luncheon as it looks forward to the year ahead.

Sandton Probus, an association of retired and semi-retired individuals, rang in the holiday season with its annual Christmas party at the San Sereno in Bryanston on 26 November. Members took part in a festive-themed quiz before enjoying a luncheon filled with holiday favourites.

According to committee member Sandy Davey, the association is aimed at joining autonomous clubs together to stimulate ‘thought, interest and participation in activities at a time of life when horizons may be narrowing and opportunities to make new friends limited’.

“Sandton Probus has gone from strength to strength over the last year and we hope to do so going forward,” said the association’s president Brian Sloan.

Probus members meet at the Bryanston Sports Club on the last Tuesday of each month at 12pm for lunch and a presentation by a number of speakers.

Sloan added that next year members will be treated as the committee has a number of exciting guest speakers lined who will cover an array of topics such as experiences in the Bush, Henry VIII’s wives, military contracting in Iraq, the contribution astronomers have made to understanding the universe and the national parks of the United States.
