Double arrests for Sandton SAPS

SANDTON – Two suspects have been arrested over the weekend for trio crimes.


As part of the ‘Safer Festive Season’ programme launched by the South African Police Service on 8 November under the theme ‘Zizojika Izinto’, Sandton police have arrested two suspects over the weekend for alleged crimes.

The first suspect, a 31-year-old man from Soweto, was arrested for armed robbery in Buccleuch on 6 November.

“He appeared in the Alexandra Regional Court on Monday, 18 November,” said Captain Granville Meyer of the Sandton Police Station.

The second suspect, age 47, was arrested for the possession of a stolen motor vehicle in Sunninghill on Sunday, 17 November by vigilant members on patrol.

“He appeared in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on 19 November,” Meyer said.

He added that the programme is expected to increase visibility throughout the festive season.
