Grow your business with tips from the experts

ROSEBANK – Founder of Suits & Sneakers, Mark Sham hosts an event to connect and educate other business owners in South Africa.

Business is booming all over the world, more so small businesses. South Africa is a country rich in self-starters and entrepreneurship and keeping up to date on trends and markets is key.

With growth and connections in mind, Intuit Quickbooks and Suits & Sneakers brought together business owners from all over Mzansi.

CEO and founder of development events, Suits & Sneakers, Mark Sham hosted the first-ever in South Africa Connecting You event in Hyde Park last week. Designed to put local small businesses on the map, Sham shared some wisdom on his journey in entrepreneurship. “I’ve always thought about entrepreneurship.

“I’ve had the privilege of interviewing a number of business owners and I just want to share some points of view that resonate with me in hopes that it resonates with others.”

He mentioned that these critical factors are what make entrepreneurs, small business owners and decision makers either fail or succeed.

“The first important thing to note is timing – give yourself time to follow through on projects and goals don’t rush. Next is, growth – be ready to get knocked down seven times and stand up eight, this is a key characteristic.

“It is your responsibility to constantly change your mind based on the information you get. The world is changing all the time – try to be a self-directed continuous learner, sticking to your guns but always reinventing.”

The Connecting You event was the first of many. Its offerings of educational, captivating and interactive talks included high-profile speakers such as Vusi Thembekwayo, founder and CEO of MyGrowthFund.

Its main aims for business owners was to find solutions to improve the business processes with technology, get inspired by leading local speakers, hear about the latest innovations and trends, gain insights on the right way to advertise a business and get more reach, hear from the pros, develop potential business partnerships, and lastly, network with like-minded peers.

Take your business to the next level in SMEs and disrupt the industry.
