Businesses in Sandton urged to support business in Alexandra in a Civil Protest March

SANDTON – The march will start at the Alexandra Mall and make its way to the Johannesburg Stock Exchange in Sandton. 


Today, 18 November, a civil protest march by the organisation, Greater Alexandra Chamber of Commerce and Industry youth Cluster is expected to take place. 

The civil protest march is said to be starting at 1.30pm to 3pm where the protesters will be meeting outside the Johannesburg Stock Exchange building (JSE) on Maude Street.

According to a released notice, about 2 500 to 3 000 people are expected to be taking part in the protest.

The protestors are said to be delivering a memorandum to the management of JSE regarding economic empowerment where they will also be requesting businesses in Sandton to support businesses in Alexandra.

The march will start at the Alexandra Mall and make its way to the Johannesburg Stock Exchange in Sandton.

Roads that will be affected as a result of the march include Rautenbach Avenue, Grayston Drive, Katherine Street, West Street and Maude Street.
