St Davids host’s spectacular Sportsmans Warehouse cricket festival

SANDTON – The three-day cricket festival saw an additional two schools participate.

Come rain or sunshine, nothing stopped St David’s Marist Inanda as it hosted its three-day spectacular Sportsmans Warehouse cricket festival.

This year’s festival saw two additional schools participate from last year’s eight which, in the words of the school’s cricket director Dave Nosworthy, ‘gave the festival that much more of a flavour and real spirit amongst all of the teams’.

Although the weather caused some delays and stoppages on the first day, all of the teams had tremendous fun. As a result, the semi-finals and final could not be played, so it was decided to award the gold and silver medals to the teams who finished on top of the league table at the end of the round-robin phase.

  1. “Over the three days we played a T20 match, a 50-over match and then ended the festival with an exciting T10 Carnival Day which was eventually won by Cornwall Hill,” Nosworthy added.

The bowling prize went to Dyan Burger of St Stithians, the best batsman was Armaan Manack of Montrose Primary and Jan Cilliers’ Alexander Terblanche was named player of the tournament.

Sportsmans Warehouse re-branded the teams for the tournament and the boys got to wear specially designed coloured clothing. “The festival as a whole was blessed to have Sportsmans Warehouse as its title sponsor, which really gave it substance and allowed the boys to be treated that much more especially – with some great end of festival prizes from them and iXU Sports – and also an experience I am sure they will not forget for a while.”
