Saints Water Polo Invitational success

LYME PARK – St Stithians College host successful 26th annual Saints Water Polo Invitation with over 700 participants.


The St Stithians College aquatics centre was buzzing this month as the school proudly hosted its 26th annual Saints Water Polo Invitational.

The Junior Section competition ran from 18 to 20 October and the Senior Section followed from 24 to 27 October with 700 participants from over 50 schools and clubs from Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, the Western Cape, the Eastern Cape and Zimbabwe. There were a number of tightly contested games which made for a phenomenal tournament.

“We thoroughly enjoyed hosting our participating schools for some great competition and camaraderie for our Junior Section of the invitational,” said Annie Fyfe-Hitchings, head of communications at St Stithians.

In the Junior Girls section, Reddam House in Cape Town placed first while Roedean School and Herschel Girls School in Cape Town placed second and third respectively. St David’s Marist Inanda won the Junior Boys section while St Stithians Boy’s Prep and Tridents Aquatics Club placed second and third respectively.

In the Senior Girls section of the tournament, St Stithians Girls’ College won while Reddam House and Clarendon Schools in East London placed second and third respectively. Reddam House placed top in the Senior Boys section while South African College High School and Bishops Diocesan College, both from Cape Town, placed second and third respectively.

“Our Water Polo Invitational 2019 lived up to its promise of being one of the best yet, celebrating 26 years of water polo excellence.”
