Join in on Spruit Day 2019
SANDTON – The annual Spruit Day clean-up is fast approaching so find a location and get involved.
All community members and organisations are encouraged to join the annual Spruit Day clean-up fun on 19 October. Volunteers will help pick up litter, plant new trees, remove invasive plants along the river and make eco-bricks.
“The Braamfontein Spruit is the longest stream in Johannesburg with its flowing and surrounding beauty running through multiple neighbourhoods from Northcliff all the way through to Midrand,” said campaign co-founder Kelly-Ann Rock.
Bags and gloves will be provided; all you need to do is bring yourself, a hat, a bottle of water and sunscreen.
The clean-up will run from 8.30am to 1.30pm at the following locations:
- Paulshof Residents and Ratepayers Association: Park between Umhlanga Avenue and Clifton Street, Paulshof
- Cheetah Crescent Residents Association: Corner of Gemsbok Lane and Cheetah Crescent, Rivonia
- Devonshire Park Estate: Riverside Centre, The River Road, Bryanston
- Spruit Clean Up initiative: Corner of Bryanston Drive bridge and The River Road, Bryanston (towards Hans Crescent)
- Bryanston East Community Forum: 1st Bryanston Scout Hall, corner of West Hertford and Grosvenor Road, Bryanston
- Bryanston Riverclub Community Forum: Corner of Borrowdale and Cypress Walk Street, Riverclub
- Craigparks Residents Association: Delta Park, Marlborough Avenue, near the blue bridge and Delta Café
- Hurlingham/ Glenadrienne / Craighall: Iona Drive, boom entrance into Hurlingham Village, Hurlingham
- Old Parktonian Sports Club: Old Parktonian Sports Club, 1 Garden Road, Bordeaux. Meeting point: Behind bowling greens.
- Parkmore Community Association: Field and Study centre, 14th Street, Parkmore
- Chartwell Country Estates: 186 First Road, Chartwell
- Klein Jukskei Greenbelt Initiative: Robyn Park, corner of Robyn and Mangaan streets, Jukskei Park
- Lonehill Residents Association: Mulbarton Road, Beverley, Lonehill (cleaning up the Jukskei River)
- Greater Kyalami Conservancy: Gracepoint Church, 125 Duncan Road, Glenferness, Jukskei River
