Ernest Ullmann Recreation Centre to host 40th anniversary celebration

MORNINGSIDE – The fun day will be hosted on 14 September from 9am to 3pm.

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Ernest Ullmann Recreation Centre, a fun day will be hosted on 14 September.

The property was given to the City of Johannesburg in 1979 by the Ullmann family. It once belonged to the famous South African artist Ernest Ullmann who passed away in 1978. Ullmann lived on the property for many years, where he had horses and cattle and did all his artwork and sculptures.

To celebrate the anniversary there will be music and entertainment on the day including face painting and jumping castles and there will be a selection of food for sale. The day will also include a range of sports options including mini tennis, basketball and soccer as well as a gymnastics display and an art exhibit.

The fun day will be hosted from 9am to 3pm. Dogs on leads are welcome and community members are invited to bring their picnic blankets to enjoy the day’s festivities.
