Hyde Park High inter-house win

HYDE PARK – Nothing like a little friendly competition at Hyde Park High as it celebrates another successful Inter-House Athletics event.

The war cries sounded as Hyde Park High School hosted its annual Inter-House Athletics event on 16 August. Learners were divided into four house colours – white, blue, red and yellow – and the games began.

Marlborough (white house) was the overall winning house by a narrow four points with Grosvenor (blue house) hot on their trail right down to the last second.

Rutland (yellow house) was awarded the Spirit Cup for their continuous loud and enthusiastic team spirit for their house regardless of how their team placed.

The senior boy’s victor ludorum was awarded to Lehlohonolo Ramogale who ran a magnificent race for Rutland. The senior girl’s victrix ludorum award was shared by Tsotang Molelekoa and Refilwe Sedi.

The junior boy’s victor ludorum went to William Mmola, one of the school’s rising athletes. A worthy mention, Gade 8 learner Dimpho Letsoalo showed ‘great promise on the track’, according to the school.

Principal Manolis Vogiatzis presented the winners with trophies, congratulating the whole school for making the day such an exciting event.

He also wished them well for the rest of the athletics season as they represented the school.
