Imaan authors Moon Girl

SANDTON – Redhill School learner Imaan Bhana has become the latest child author to release her first book titled Moon Girl.

Imaan Bhana became the latest child author to launch her writing career under Bala Books.

The 11-year-old from Redhill School launched her book titled Moon Girl on 31 August. The book tells the story of a young girl who had a wonderful relationship with her mother as they lived together in the sky. Due to their life changes, Moon Girl and her mother could not see one another often anymore. However, they still maintained the same bond and relationship. As time went by, Moon Girl felt lonely, but she later found a friend who taught her life lessons.

Bala Books is a book publishing company which offers book writing courses to young writers. The young authors work closely with graduate mentors assisting them in the aspects of writing children’s book.

Grade 7 learner, Imaan explained what inspired her to write the book, “What inspired me is that people will come and go in your life and even though it hurts to let go, you need to feel that hurt in order to have felt the love and joy you felt before they left.

“When they leave, sometimes it’s for the better as you get to widen your horizon and make open opportunities for yourself.”

Head honcho at Bala Books Glad Kaiser highlighted Imaan’s book launch as a special one, “The book launch was fantastic, we had a Muslim community. Each time you get a different ethnicity and community of people. It just goes to show that this programme surpasses any bearer.
