Friends of Sandpruit and Sandton SPCA collaborate to host fundraising dog walk
MORNINGSIDE – The spring day dog walk will be hosted on 1 September at the Ernest Ullmann Park.
Friends of Sandspruit and the Sandton SPCA have partnered to host a spring day dog walk to raise funds for both organisations.
The spring day event will be hosted on 1 September at the Ernest Ullmann Park in Morningside. Alex Parkins, the chairperson for the Friends of Sandspruit, said that this will be the first time that Friends of Sandspruit have partnered with the SPCA. “The only way to build a community is to support the community. We are aiming for success and to make this an annual event.”
She added that the Sandton SPCA do many great things for animal welfare and the Friends of Sandspruit care for the park and river and the two causes seem to go hand in hand. “We love walking our dogs in the park, there are dogs out there that need food and love and care. What better way to do that than to support Sandton SPCA.”
The entrance fee to the event will be a bag of dog food, which will be donated to the SPCA and R50 which will be donated to the Friends of Sandspruit.
“As with any non-profit organisations, we have an extremely limited cash flow and rely solely on donations. With this event we are hoping to create awareness for what we do and about Ernest Ullmann Park and the Sandspruit River. Spring and the rainy season are coming soon which means there will be much more maintenance work to be done to keep the area in the same condition for everyone’s enjoyment,” she concluded.
