Seven arrested in Wendywood following anonymous tip-off

WENDYWOOD – Police received a tip-off about a suspected drug and prostitution operation in Wendywood.


Members of the Sandton Police Station arrested seven people believed to be involved in an alleged drug-dealing operation in Wendywood.

Captain Granville Meyer, the spokesperson for the Sandton Police Station said, “In pursuit of a drug-free society, members attached to the Sandton Crime Combatting Team reacted to a tip-off from the community regarding drug dealing and prostitution and conducted observation duties in the Wendywood area.”

Meyer said that the provided information proved to be accurate when the members searched the property implicated in the tip-off. The search led to the discovery of cocaine and crystal methamphetamine with an estimated street value of R143 500.

Drug paraphernalia, a weigh scale and a possible stolen Rolex watch were also seized during the search operation.

Meyer concluded that the seven suspects were arrested on charges of drug dealing, possession of marijuana, possession of presumably stolen property, passport fraud and prostitution. The arrested suspects will appear in court soon.
