5 hacks to clean your car

Cleanipedia is the hub for all your cleaning needs, from how to clean ovens to carpets, there’s almost nothing you can’t be given cleaning advice on.

Having a clean car that is dust-free and smells good is probably one of the best feelings ever.

And if you like to clean your car yourself, you know it’s hard work, even with the best playlist to help you along.

But don’t worry we have a few hacks that are sure to help you cut down on your cleaning time.

An old toothbrush

The old faithful toothbrush works wonders when cleaning crevices, whether inside your home or your car. Simply add two drops of Sunlight Dishwashing Liquid to a small bowl of water, dip the toothbrush in the solution and clean the inside of cup holders (this is often the place that easily gets sticky). You can also clean areas in your car such as the dashboard area as well as the parking brake and the gear lever with a toothbrush.

Getting rid of pet’s hair

If you regularly transport pets, then you know all about how their hairs get everywhere – from the car’s carpets to the seats. Simply put on a pair of rubber gloves and wipe your gloved hands (textured part facing down) all over your car’s upholstery – and the hairs will be removed easily. Vacuum afterwards to make sure you’ve gotten rid of every strand.

Using toothpaste

Believe it or not, toothpaste is a miraculous substance especially when cleaning your headlights. Wipe your lights with a clean cloth before rubbing toothpaste all over it with the same cloth. Let the toothpaste sit for 10 minutes before rinsing the water and drying with a clean cloth. This will help to remove the fog and grime on your headlights.

Use Vaseline

Did you know that Vaseline adds incredible shine to leather? If your car’s interior is vinyl or leather, add a dab of Vaseline to a clean cloth and rub it all over the leather. Doing this regularly will prolong the lifespan of your leather and prevent it from cracking easily.

Clean inside your windscreen

The outside may be cleaned regularly whenever you fill up your tank at a petrol station, but have you ever thought about cleaning the inside of your windscreen? It’s super easy and you only need ingredients that you may already have in your kitchen cupboard. Simply pour 2-3 drops of Sunlight Dishwashing Liquid into a bowl of lukewarm water followed by 2 drops of white vinegar. Dip a cloth into this solution and wipe the inside of your windscreen – you’ll have squeaky-clean windows in no time!
