Man killed in one of the two rollovers in Sandton

SANDTON – Netcare 911 attended to two separate car accidents in the early hours of Friday. In one of the incidents, the driver was declared deceased at the scene.


At 3.23am Friday morning (9 August), Netcare 911 responded to reports of a collision on The Straight Street in Lonehill Sandton.

Shawn Herbst from the communications office of Netcare 911 said that reports from the scene indicated that the driver of a light motor vehicle had lost control resulting in a rollover.

“The driver, an adult male was assessed on scene by an advanced life support paramedic and found to have no signs of life and was tragically declared deceased on the scene,” said Herbst.

Later on the same day, Netcare 911 responded to reports of a collision on 12th Avenue in Rivonia Sandton at 7.04am Friday morning (9 August).

According to Herbst, reports from the scene indicated that the driver of a light motor vehicle had lost control resulting in a rollover.

“Three adult males sustained injuries ranging from moderate to serious and required advanced life support intervention to stabilise them,” said Herbst

He added that the patients were treated at the scene and once stabilised, they were transported by various ambulance services to hospital for further treatment.
