Thousands gather at Sandton Convention Centre to pay tribute to music legend Johnny Clegg
SANDTON – The public memorial will have some public figures paying tribute to Johnny Clegg.
Crowds have begun gathering at the Sandton Convention Centre, 26 July, where South African music legend Johnny Clegg memorial service will commence.
Clegg passed away aged 66 after his long battle with pancreatic cancer on July 16. Remembered for his infusion of Western music with isiZulu and maskandi sounds and lyrics has had numerous tributes on social media since his passing.
Minister of Arts and Culture Nkosinathi Mthethwa, Dr John Kani and Jesse Clegg will pay their tributes during the memorial.
