Empowervate to host tenth-anniversary fundraiser in Sandton

SANDTON – The fundraiser will be hosted at the Auto and General Theatre on the Square and will feature a range of musical performances.

The Empowervate will be hosting a fundraiser in Sandton to celebrate its tenth anniversary of empowering young children.

Empowervate works to ensure that disadvantaged youth are encouraged to become active and responsible citizens. Empowervate’s main programme is the Youth Citizens Action Programme which is a competition-based programme that encourages learners from primary and secondary schools to identify challenges within their schools or communities and work to help solve or lessen the problem.

Amanda Blankfield-Koseff, the founder and CEO of Empowervate, explained that the organisation will be hosting its first-ever fundraising show to celebrate their anniversary.

The fundraising concert will be hosted at the Auto and General Theatre on the Square and will include a wide variety of musical performances by artists including Tony Yoko and Michael de Pinna. CEO Blankfield-Koseff, who is also a musician, will be performing during the theatre show as well.

Blankfield-Koseff said that all the money raised by the performance will go toward hosting the Youth Citizens Action Programme National Championships. The national championships will see children from across the country showcase their impactful social, environmental and educational projects.

So far, the project has reached over 30 000 learners from across the country and moving forward they hope to reach even more children across the country and potentially expand the project internationally.

The programme gives learners the tools to show them how to make changes in their community recognises and rewards them for all their efforts during the provincial and national competitions.

She added that they really hope to give all the learners a weekend to remember and encourage them to continue to be positive role models in their community.

“We appeal to the community to support this programme as it empowers the next generation to be active citizens with positive values and skills to make our country shine,” concluded Blankfield-Koseff.

The fundraiser will be hosted on 4 August at 3pm at the Auto and General Theatre on the Square. Tickets are available at https://protect-za.mimecast.com/s/diSPCY6XnLsjYWYI9VaX7?domain=lovingthyneighbour.org
