Man stabbed in an apparent assault in a minibus taxi in Woodmead

WOODMEAD – Netcare 911 paramedics coming back from another incident drove past an apparent assault at the Buccleuch Interchange in Woodmead on Sunday morning, 30 June.


Netcare 911 paramedics who were on their way back from another incident, drove into the apparent assault early on Sunday morning, 30 June, at the Buccleuch Interchange in Woodmead.

Shawn Herbst, Netcare 911 spokesperson said, “As they drove past the scene they saw what looked like a man being assaulted. They called the police and then went back to the scene when a taxi sped off.”

The man believed to be in his 30s ran to the ambulance and jumped in. When he was assessed, paramedics found that the man had a stab wound to his back and numerous lacerations.

Herbst added that it is understood the man was catching a lift home in the taxi, the taxi came to a stop and they assaulted him.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are unclear. The man was transported to a hospital for further assistance.
