Join the Friends of Bryanston Library and get reading

BRYANSTON – Bryanston Library invites the community to use the facility.


The Bryanston Library is once again inviting the communities of Region E, to make use of this fantastic public service. The library is located at the corner of New and Payne roads and is easily accessible from both William Nicol Drive and Main Road.

The library provides safe and secure parking for its patrons. Joining the library as a member is a simple process which only requires your ID, then ask the librarian for assistance. You can start making use of the library’s facility as soon as you have your temporary membership card.

Like all public libraries, Bryanston Library supports its local communities by offering a wide range of services. For book lovers and students, there is a wide range of adult fiction, non-fiction, educational and reference material available. The Bryanston Library has a delightful dedicated children’s section, which hosts a story telling session every Wednesday afternoon from 2.30pm to 3pm, and on the first Saturday morning of each month from 11pm to 12pm. As an important outreach offering, nursery schools in Region E can approach the staff at the library to provide story telling services.

Libraries play an important educational role and the Bryanston Library takes pride in making available a wide range of digital resources, such as Lexis Library, Sabinet databases and academic journals hosted by EbscoHost database. For the more digitally inclined member, the library offers access to a range of e-books, newspapers, magazines and video resources through service providers such as OverDrive and PressReader. The dedicated staff at the library ensure that the public displays provide information on important historical and current events, such as the Youth Month display in place for the month of June.

The library also hosts a puzzle club for both adults and children. An extensive range of puzzles are available for loan to all members for up to three weeks at a time. All you have to do to join the puzzle club is to donate a puzzle.

The Friends of Bryanston Library (FOBL) is the library’s official book club. Being a member of the book club allows you exclusive access to new material before the general public. To join, you will need to pay an annual amount equivalent to the price of a new book.

The library also holds a book sale on the first Saturday of every month from 9pm to 1pm. Books for adults and children are available for sale from R5 to R20 per book. The dates for the book sales for the rest of year are: 6 July, 3 August, 7 September, 5 October, 2 November and 7 December.

The Bryanston Library is open six days a week during the following hours:

Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays: 9am–6pm

Wednesdays: 1pm–6pm

Fridays and Saturdays: 9am–1pm.
