Johannesburg Mayor Herman Mashaba together with the MMC for Public Safety Michael Sun and Metro police Chief David Tembe will release the May performance statistics of the Metro police at the Council Chamber Wing, Metro Centre on 28 June.
The report will focus on top crime, recoveries as well as arrests across all regions of the City of Johannesburg.
For the first time, Metro police have also been able to include the success of the newly launched Integrated Intelligence Operation Centre (IIOC) reaction unit. This unit is focused on combating street crimes reported on a daily basis, especially in the inner city.
“These monthly presentations are a necessary evaluation for the department to remain accountable and transparent to the residents as well as report on efforts made towards improving the safety and security of the City of Johannesburg,” said Mashaba.
