Update: Rand Water gives an update on major pipeline maintenance work

JOHANNESBURG – Rand Water updates on pipeline maintenance work.

Rand Water has announced that work on the B11 pipeline shutdown remains on schedule and the work is on target.

It added that its network is operational and stable and all our reservoirs are meeting demand.

“We also have not received reports from our municipal customers of interruptions to the service due to the work being done with the Shutdown,” said Rand Water in the statement.

“We have also noted a social media advisory issued by the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality of potential water shortages in part of that Municipality due to the B11 shutdown. We are in discussions with senior management at the municipality for that advisory to be retracted. Our reservoirs supplying the Ekurhuleni Local Municipality are stable.”

Rand Water said the Emfuleni Local Municipality has granted by ESKOM permission to execute a shutdown at its Sonlandpark Substation.

“This will have an impact on our Langerrand Reservoir. We are monitoring this situation very closely. The Rand Water ‘War Room’ that has been established to oversee the shutdown is continuously monitoring the network. Rand Water requests consumers to continue using water sparingly.”

Rand Water said their next update will be at tonight, 25 June.
