Sandton – Be aware of these crime trends in and around Sandton.


The Sandton Police Station highlighted some of the crime trends which occurred in specific areas in Sandton from 27 May to 2 June.

In Sector 1, which covers suburbs such as Edenburg and Woodmead, burglaries and theft out of motor vehicles were the biggest contributions to crime. Captain Granville Meyer, the spokesperson for the station said the points of interest within the area where shopping centres and in most incidents, doors and windows were forced open. The incidents took place between 9am and 7pm on Monday and Wednesday.

In Sector 2, burglaries and the theft out of a motor vehicle were the main contributions to crime in this sector, incidents took place at shopping centres and electronic equipment were targeted. Incidents took place between 8am and 7pm on Tuesday and Friday and the suburbs targeted were Bryanston and Paulshof.

In Sector 3, the main crimes committed were theft out of motor vehicles and robbery. Meyer said most incidents took place at 8am and 11pm on Monday and Friday in Sandown and Parkmore.

In Sector 4, robbery with aggravating circumstances contributed mainly in this sector, hijackings also took place at traffic lights in Buccleuch and Wendywood between 12pm and 7pm on Monday and Friday.

The police are having a Youth Day event on Sunday, 16 June at the Seventh-day Adventist Church on Malindi Road, Sunninghill and everyone is welcome.
