Caxton Awards 2018 revitalises print

Writers, advertisers and marketers come out in their best fashion to celebrate at the Caxton awards.


All the glitz and glamour that comes every year was felt at the Caxton 2018 Awards on 28 March.

Held at the gorgeous Maslow Hotel at Times Square, Pretoria, it was a night to appreciate excellence, hard work and perseverance. It is one day in the year that every Caxtonite waits for in excitement.

Awards were presented for a variety of categories such as creative, advertising, best community involvement and of course editorial.

This year Caxton Local Media Joburg North made a statement, aside from making it into the finals in multiple categories, by scooping two awards.

The Randburg Sun won Best Free Newspaper of the Year and Fourways Review won Best Community Involvement.

The aim of the game is to highlight the excellence in our community newspapers and the night certainly proved how print is not dead.

– Alex News in the Best emerging markets paper category

– City Buzz in the Best Free newspaper of the year category

– Reuven Bilgnault in the Best Hard News Photo category

– Megan Brett in the Best Glossy Supplement Best Major Advertising Feature

– Geshika Vorster and Megan Brett were nominated Best innovative idea for BoJ Roadshow

– Best of Joburg booklet in the glossy supplement category.
