Man sentenced to ten years’ for business break-in

BRYANSTON – A man was found guilty on charges of a business break-in with the intention to steal and theft.

Sandton ChronicleA 30-year-old was recently convicted to ten years’ imprisonment for breaking into a business near the Randburg Magistrates’ Court.

On 20 April last year at about 4.30pm, the complainant locked his business premises on the corner of Main Road and Culross Street in Bryanston, leaving everything in order.

According to Captain Makgowanyana Maja, the spokesperson for the Randburg Police Station, the complainant received a call while on his way to work from his security company stating that there was a break-in. On his arrival, he found the security and the police already on the scene. He opened the property and on the preliminary investigation, he established that valuables were taken.

The docket was opened for further investigation. The matter was assigned to Detective Constable Musa Nyoni to handle.

“Through information-driven investigations, the suspect was traced in Diepsloot where he was arrested. Upon questioning, the mother of the suspect handed over the stolen items to the police which led further to the Soweto area where the suspect alleged he hid the remaining of the items. The items were also recovered,” said Maja.

The suspect went through the court process and was finally sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment for business breaking with the intention to steal and theft which is wholly suspended for five years on condition that the accused is not convicted of other crimes.

“The management of the station like to thank all participant involved in the case for their patience and cooperation. Working together as the police and the community we can work towards creating a safer and secure environment for us all,” concluded Maja.
