Condolences pour in for Buthelezi family

JOHANNESBURG – IFP's leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi's wife passed away yesterday, 25 March, after a long illness.

The City of Joburg alongside the Nelson Mandela Foundation expressed their condolences to the IFP leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi for the loss of his partner of 67 years, Princess Irene Audrey Thandekile Buthelezi.

“We send the condolences of our chairperson Professor Njabulo Ndebele, the Board of Trustees and the staff of the Nelson Mandela Foundation to chief Mangosuthu Buthelezi and the whole family,” read the statement released by the Nelson Mandela Foundation.

The Nelson Mandela Foundation noted how Nelson Mandela had known her since before he was imprisoned, having met her father, Zachariah Mzila, in the 1940s.

Herman Mashaba said in a statement from the City of Joburg, “My heartfelt condolences not only go to the Buthelezi family as a whole but also their loved ones and the IFP itself.”
