Update: alleged bomb threat at Ernst and Young, Sandton has been resolved

SANDTON – Due to the bomb threat, be advised that roads have been closed on Rivonia Road, between West Street and Fifth Street.


Update, 25 March, 3:25pm

Ernst and Young have put an update on the bomb threat that caused a mass evacuation at their building in Sandton earlier today, they say the building is now accessible, the safety concern has been resolved.

Initial report, 25 March, 1.50pm 

According to Elaine Jack, the Sandton Central Improvement District Manager, a bomb threat was called into Ernst and Young (EY) and the building has been evacuated.

Alexander Forbes, which is located next to EY, was also evacuated as a precautionary measure. Road closures are being experienced on Rivonia Road, between West Street and Fifth Street. 

Jack added that the Johannesburg Metro Police Department is currently at the scene to help manage the situation and the South African Police Services bomb squad is en route.
