Greedy ‘robber’ nabbed

BRAMLEY– A 26-year-old man got into a scuffle as he was allegedly trying to rob a family in Sandown.

 


A 26-year-old man is under hospital detainment by Bramley police after they apprehended him during a house robbery in Sandown.

According to the spokesperson for the Bramley Police Station, Captain Molefe Mogodi, an unknown man allegedly forced his way into the house where he threatened the victims with a firearm on 5 March in the early hours of the morning.

“It is also alleged that the suspect then demanded money from the victim and was given an undisclosed amount of money but he got angry and demanded some more.

“The suspect was busy assaulting and threatening the family with violence when he was overpowered and apprehended.”

He stated that the security reaction unit was called to the scene and the suspect was subsequently arrested and detained by Bramley police. “The money which was stolen was recovered and the police discovered that the suspect was using a toy gun. The suspect is in hospital under police guard due to injuries sustained during the scuffle.

“The 26-year-old man will appear in court once he has recovered.”
