City of Joburg says it has repaired more than 3 000 potholes in the month of February

JOBURG – The JRA initiates a new testing system Jetpatcher to accelerate the rate of repairing our roads.

Executive Mayor of Johannesburg Herman Mashaba said Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) repaired 3 045 potholes in February and it was aware that there was still a lot of work to do to maintain public infrastructure and repair roads at a quicker pace.

Early in February, the City committed to fixing all potholes after heavy rains during that month. The road agency is currently testing out a new system called the Jetpatcher road rehabilitation solution, set to assist the current system at a faster rate, including up-skilling the current workforce on the use of the new technology.

The new system repaired 2 700 potholes, equivalent to 200 potholes in a day.

Mashaba added that the City’s capital budget was adjusted by adding an additional R135 million to road infrastructure and rehabilitation from the initial R250 million.
