Police arrest taxi driver for driving in oncoming traffic

MORNINGSIDE – The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) officers arrest taxi driver for not complying with the rules of the road.


The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) operations officers arrested a taxi driver on 19 February for driving into oncoming traffic on Kelvin Drive and Stiglingh Road in Morningside.

JMPD Chief David Tembe said they received numerous complaints from the residents about the reckless driving of motorists in the area. Tembe said on Twitter that the driver will be charged with reckless and negligent driving.

Twitter users thanked the chief and JMPD officers for arresting the driver. Others have requested Tembe to deploy JMPD officers in more areas.
