One suspect killed during house robbery in Bryanston

BRYANSTON – A victim of a house robbery recently shot and killed an alleged suspect.

A Bryanston resident has shot and killed a suspect during an alleged house robbery.

The incident happened on 7 February and according to Captain Granville Meyer, spokesperson for the Sandton Police Station, the victim was asleep when his wife noticed four suspects in the bedroom.

He said that one suspect shot at the victim after which the victim took out his firearm and shot at the suspect several times, striking him multiple times on the body.

“The suspect collapsed and died on the scene while the other three suspects fled.”

Meyer added that one unlicensed firearm was recovered on the scene that belongs to the suspect.

“An inquest docket was opened for housebreaking, unlicensed firearm with the intention to commit a crime.”

Shawn Herbst media liaison officer for Netcare 911 said paramedics responded to reports of a shooting at a Bryanston residence.

“Reports from the scene indicate that a male in his late twenties believed to be a suspect in a house robbery sustained a fatal gunshot wound after being shot by an occupant of the house.”

He said the patient was assessed on scene by an Advanced life support paramedic and found to have no signs of life and declared deceased on the scene.

“None of the occupants of the house were injured and all necessary authorities were on scene to investigate,” ended Herbst.
