St David’s Marist Inanda celebrate matric results

SANDOWN – Learners at St David's Marist Inanda achieved a 100 per cent pass rate and a 93 per cent Bachelor Degree Pass.

Teachers, learners and staff from St David’s Marist Inanda School celebrated a 100 per cent pass rate with a 93 per cent Bachelor Degree Pass.

The 113 boys in the matric class have achieved 202 distinctions across 21 subjects. This translates into an average of 1.8 distinctions per candidate.

Mike Thiel, the executive headmaster at the school said, “My congratulations extend to staff and parents who have walked this journey with these boys and thank them for the considerable investment that each has made into the lives of these young men who now take a bold step into the world beyond the gates of St David’s.

“While we publicly celebrate our top achievers at this time, as a community we celebrate the achievements of all of these young men, each of whom has travelled their own unique path to this point. Each of our matriculants has worked towards his own personal goals, many overcoming obstacles and all dealing with the myriad of pressures, expectations and stresses placed on our modern youngsters. Every set of our successful results is special, and each of our boys equipped with so much more than just these results.”

The top achievers at the school include:

Gianluca Rizzo obtained eight distinctions and is in the top one per cent of candidates in English, life orientation and mathematics. He obtained distinctions English, life orientation, mathematics, information technology, life sciences, physical sciences, Afrikaans and advanced programme mathematics.

Mohamed Fayaaz Cassim obtained eight distinctions and was the IEB Commendable Achiever as he achieved within the top five per cent in five subjects and achieved a rating level of seven in life orientation and the top 1 per cent of candidates in English and life sciences. He obtained distinctions for Afrikaans, English, history, life orientation, life sciences, mathematics, physical sciences and visual arts.

Max Matheussen obtained eight distinctions and was in the top one per cent of candidates in mathematics and physical sciences. He obtained distinctions for accounting, Afrikaans, English, life orientation, life sciences, mathematics, physical sciences and advanced programme mathematics.

Thomas Clegg obtained seven distinctions and was in the top one per cent of candidates in mathematics. He obtained distinctions in Afrikaans, English, geography, information technology, life orientation, mathematics and physical sciences.

Ritvik Sojen obtained seven distinctions in English, information technology, life orientation, life sciences, mathematics, physical sciences and advanced programme mathematics.
