SANDTON – Two men were arrested for attempted robbery and reckless and negligent driving.

Two men have been arrested by the Sandton Police Station for attempted robbery and reckless and negligent driving.

Yesterday (19 November) security guards from Sandton Central noticed a man acting suspiciously in the Sandton Central Business District.  They believed that the man might be involved in cellphone snatching incidents in the area.

Elaine Jack, Sandton Central Management District City Improvement Manager said that the guards proceeded to follow the man to his car, which had three other occupants. She also praised the guards for their vigilance which helped secure an arrest, in partnership with Sandton police officers.

Brigadier Egen Moodley from the Sandton Police Station explained that the men were traveling in a blue Toyota Corralla without any license plates that appeared to be suspicious. The men were followed to Devonshire Avenue in Bryanston where they were apprehended by police.

Due to the driving manner of the suspects during the chase, they have been charged with reckless and negligent driving.
