Three men nabbed by police for hijacked vehicle in Sandton

BRAMLEY – The driver lost control and ploughed into other cars.

Three suspected hijackers were arrested by police on Marlboro Drive near Wynberg on 13 November.

The Johannesburg North Cluster Tracing police team was patrolling the area when they spotted a car that had been reported hijacked on the police radio communication network.

According to Captain Molefe Mogodi, the spokesperson for the Bramley Police Station, the officers signalled for the vehicle to stop but instead, it sped away.

“A high-speed chase ensued with the police trying to stop the car but instead, the suspects opened fire and our members shot back,” said Mogodi.

“The driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle under the bridge of De Villiers Graaf freeway, better known as M1 and Marlboro Drive near Wynberg, and collided into other cars. The police managed to apprehend them.”

The officers then searched the car and recovered a bag containing gloves, balaclavas and two firearms with their serial numbers filed off.

The suspects were detained at the Bramley Police Station where they were charged with the possession of a hijacked vehicle, unlicensed firearms and attempted murder.
