SANDTON – The Women's Network hosted the breakfast to promote good values within the policemen.

Over 60 policemen gathered at the Sandton Police Station to enjoy a breakfast hosted by the Sandton Police Station’s Women’s Network.

The Women’s Network used the breakfast as an opportunity to discuss the importance of faith, family and fatherhood on 9 November.

Captain Granville Meyer, the spokesperson of the Sandton Police Station explained the Women’s Network focuses on the empowerment and support of women and contributing towards combatting gender-based violence. They also focus on nation-building and social responsibility programme and provide a platform for officers to address personal and professional issues so that they can be dealt with sensitively and confidentially.

“The Women’s Network has played an important role in aligning itself with programmes for the elimination of violence against women and children,” said Meyer.

The Women’s Network has assisted in a variety of ways which include helping to ensure that sexual harassment policy is properly implemented and that the victims’ dignity is protected. They have also ensured the implementation of such policies in the Southern African Development Community or that region.

“The aim of the event was to celebrate the positive value men bring to the world, their families and their communities. It was also to provide a platform where male role models were highlighted and where issues such as men’s physical, emotional and psychological health were discussed in a relaxed environment,” added Meyer.
