14 hospitalised after smoking dangerous substance

SANDTON – Following reports of 14 people that have been hospitalised after smoking a substance, André Snyman of eblockwatch discusses the drug.

A dangerous drug has been identified following 14 cases reported cases of people being hospitalised after smoking the substance in the Pretoria area.

Various incidents have surfaced including videos of the severe effects the drug has had on people that used it. According to reports, the drug can easily be bought by anyone over the counter at several shops and has affected both adults and minors as young as 14 years old.

The packaging indicates that it is not for human consumption, but is meant to be a potpourri, however it caused severe side effects on the users that smoked it.

André Snyman, eblockwatch founder and Bryanston resident, discusses the dangerous drug that has emerged as part of this weeks edition of How Secure Are You?, an online and print security feature in partnership with the Sandton Chronicle and eblockwatch.

Snyman said that there have not been any reported cases on eblockwatch yet, but if anyone has any information on where these drugs are available, they should contact eblockwatch who will then work backwards to try and find the suppliers.

“I think that it might be possible it was just a bad batch that was made because it is so localised in Pretoria.”

However, Snyman said that it can spread very easily to other areas and that you should be careful what you smoke.

He warned that people should monitor if their children or friends have bought any of these packets as it is very dangerous, and urged them to report it to eblockwatch immediately.
