St Stithians College recently congratulated several boys who participated in external music examinations, which took place earlier this year, but the school gave recognition to the boys who took the examinations on 14 September.
These were conducted by visiting examiners from international boards (in the case of practical examinations) or sent overseas for marking (in the case of theory papers).
The exams were taken with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, Trinity College London and Rockschool, all based in the United Kingdom and the exams are graded according to difficulty and technical demands and the qualifications are recognised worldwide.
The following learners were recognised for their achievements:
Theory examinations:
- Luca de Barros – Trinity Grade 3 theory with merit
- Sabelo Ntshingila – Trinity Grade 5 theory
- Jarred Loggenberg – Trinity Grade 5 theory with merit
- Mihlali Jiya – Trinity Grade 5 theory with distinction
- Dario Testaferrata – Trinity Grade 6 theory with merit
- Erich van Beek – Trinity Grade 6 theory with distinction.
Practical examinations:
- Benjamin Pringle – Rockschool Grade 3 electric guitar
- Connor Young – Trinity Grade 3 violin with merit
- Luke Brown – Royal Schools Grade 4 violin with merit
- Ben Servant – Trinity Grade 4 orchestral percussion with distinction
- Erich van Beek – Trinity Grade 7 violin with merit
- Jason Brown – Trinity Grade 7 violin with distinction.
