Man arrested for the murder of Bryanston woman

SANDTON – Members of the Sandton Serious and Violent Crime Unit recently arrested a man suspected of murder.

A 38-year-old man was recently arrested in connection with the murder of a 79-year-old woman in Bryanston on 26 August.

This according to Captain Molefe Mogodi, spokesperson for the Bramley Police Station who said that the Sandton Serious and Violent Crime Unit members arrested the suspect at about 11am on 27 August. “The woman was found lying in a pool of blood at her home in Bryanston at about 4.50pm after she had failed to arrive at the restaurant where she was to have lunch with her friends.”

Mogodi said the case was assigned to the Sandton detectives. “After working the whole night gathering information and investigating the incident, their hard work finally paid off.”

He added that the suspect was arrested by the team of dedicated detectives in the morning and he detained at Sandton Police Station until his court appearance. “It is believed that the suspect was not alone in the crime and the police are searching for the other suspects and will make sure that they are brought to book.”
