Two victims, one car, same shopping centre

SANDTON – Another case of a follow-home robbery has emerged which involves the same suspects.

Following a recently reported armed robbery, another case has come light, involving the same vehicle and the same shopping centre.

Speaking to the Sandton Chronicle, the victim who wishes to remain anonymous, for fear of retribution said the incident happened on 10 August in Bryanston.

The victim left the well-known centre on Hobart Road at around 5.45pm and drove home.

“I do recall seeing a black car in the rear-view mirror.”

He said he opened the gate and drove in. “I usually stop right at the gate and quickly close it.”

As he was waiting for the gate to close a black Mini Clubman came screaming down the road. “One of the suspects jumped out of the car and managed to enter the gate just before it closed.”

The armed suspect smacked on the glass and told him to open the window.

“He took the gate keys and my car keys and opened the gate.”

“There were four guys in the car and another suspect came and helped. They took my Rolex watch and a briefcase which had keys and documents in it.”

He said that he had to have his locks changed on his car, house and office.

“I managed to press the panic button on my remote, however, 7 Arrows took ten minutes to arrive. After the robbery, I phoned them because they had not arrived yet,” he said.

The victim provided some advice when situations such as these arise. He said to rather wait in the street and open your gate before you enter the driveway.

“Don’t carry anything expensive or things that you do not need. Be extremely vigilant about people following you. They may be a few cars behind you and not directly behind you.”
