Bad weekend habits that mess up your sleeping cycle

Break these habits and you are sure to recover that restful sleep you need in order to face each new week.

For many people, it is not uncommon for Sunday nights to not be the most restful. Even if you have spent the whole weekend being perfectly lazy, come Monday morning it can be hard to keep your eyes open. It could be the things that you are doing during the weekend that have set you up for a bleary week.
Friday is always around the corner, but while the two days that make up the weekend are necessary for relaxation, you might be doing things that compromise your downtime.
Many of us suffer from insomnia or we have some other reason that our sleep is affected. While the temptation is there to sneak in some shut-eye over the weekend, that is just one of the ways that you will actually do damage to your sleep pattern.
Here are the bad habits that might have an effect:

You’ve “caught up” on sleep
There is such thing as too much sleep. You have the time and you are tired. What better way to recuperate than by sleeping late or napping the day away? Actually, this is one of the worst things you can do.
A non-consistent sleep cycle can confuse your natural one. However,  this doesn’t mean that you can never sleep late again. It simply means that you must be smart about your lie in by not sleeping more than 30 minutes extra in the morning.

You’re partying too hard

Enjoying a crazy night out can be a great way to relax, but only when done in moderation. Alcohol is not your friend when you’re looking to rest. Too much alcohol in your system can result in sleep disruption.

You’ve given up on exercise
Getting and staying motivated to exercise can be difficult. While you might exercise during the week, come the weekend you might be tempted to take a break from your routine. Just 10 minutes of morning workouts over the weekend have been proven to encourage sleep.

You watch too much TV
During the week, life gets hectic. So catching up on the latest episodes of your favourite TV shows is something that you might well want to do during the weekends. Binging on TV is not going to do favours to your sleep cycle, especially if this is on a Sunday. A brain that is constantly stimulated is one that is not going to be able to rest.
Chances are that you are one of millions who spend their days working in front of computer screens. While binge watching the series you have missed during the week can seem very tempting, you need to give your brain a break.
