A sad farewell to dedicated police officer

SANDTON – Lieutenant Colonel Manogran Pillay was laid to rest with full military honours.

Members of the Sandton Police Station bid farewell to one of their officers who died suddenly on 8 August.

Lieutenant Colonel Manogran ‘Reggie’ Pillay was laid to rest during an official funeral on 11 August with full military honours at the Ferndale Recreation Centre.

Acting Johannesburg North Cluster commander Egen Moodley said that Pillay was a true officer and gentlemen who was dedicated to his profession. “On behalf of the management and personnel of the Johannesburg North Cluster and Sandton SAPS I express my sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family as well as his friends and colleagues.”

Andrew McMurray, the chairperson of the Sandton Community Policing Forum’s (CPF) Sector 4 echoed Moodley’s sentiments and added that Pillay was a genuine, honest and diligent police officer. “I worked with him for about 5 or 6 years, it still hasn’t quite sunk in. He was always willing to work with us at the CPF and was always good at communicating with us. It is such a loss to the CPF and the police and of course, his family.”
