SANDTON – Members of the CIT task team recently arrested a 53-year-old suspect for the possession of 321,5kg of dagga.

Members of the Cash in Transit (CIT) task team recently arrested a suspect after finding marijuana in his vehicle.

This according to Brigadier Egen Moodley, station commander at the Sandton Police Station who said the team acted on a tip-off.

“They stopped a white Mercedes Benz truck near Woodmead on the N1 South at 12.30pm on 24 July and found 26 bags of compressed dagga in a hidden compartment in the truck.”

Moodley said the illegal contraband weighed in at a massive 321,5kg.

He continued that the marijuana will be destroyed in a furnace after the completion of the court case.

“The 53-year-old male truck driver was arrested and detained at Sandton Police Station. Further investigations are being conducted,” ended Moodley.
