Join a fundraising dinner for the Motor Neurone Disease Association of Gauteng

BRYANSTON – The event aims to help raise awareness and funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association of Gauteng.

The Motor Neurone Disease Association (MND) of Gauteng will be hosting an event to raise awareness about the disease and to raise funds for those who suffer from it.

Karen and Göran Soderholm will host the event at the Café del Sol Botanico on 21 June.

The date marks the winter solstice. For the group, the solstice represents a turning point in the year and they hope this will also signify a turning point in the search for the cause, treatment and cure for the disease, which is a neurodegenerative disease, which causes the nerves in the brain and spine to progressively lose function.

The association was launched late in 1990 to bring together people who suffer from the disease as well as their family members and help raise awareness about it.

On the evening, Victoria Goodstein, an advisor for the association, will be discussing MND and Sue Fullergood, a physiotherapist will recount her journey travelling across the Danakil Desert in Ethiopia on a bicycle.

Local band Shyen will also perform while giving guests the opportunity to reflect on their journey with the Soderholms.

The event will cost R450 and all proceeds will be used to support the Gauteng MND branch. To attend the event or for more information contact Karen Soderholm on millholm@gmail.com
