Taxi hits pedestrian and flees the scene in Sandton

SANDOWN – The pedestrian was transported to a hospital for further treatment.

A pedestrian is being treated for injuries after a minibus taxi allegedly hit him and fled the scene.

At around 5.56pm on 6 June, Netcare 911 responded to an accident on Katherine Street in Sandown.

On arrival Netcare 911 and other emergency medical services attended to a man believed to be in his 50s. Upon further assessment it was determined that he had sustained serious injuries, he was resuscitated and stabilised before being transported to hospital for further medical care.

According to Netcare 911 spokesperson, Tebogo Magoro, “Reports from the scene allege that the patient was hit by a taxi that fled the scene.”

The exact details regarding the incident where not known to the paramedics but local authorities were on scene to investigate further.
