Explorers Club to host lesson on healthy living

BRYANSTON – The Explorers Friendship and Chat Group invites people to join this month's talk.

The Explorer Friendship and Chat Group will be giving a lesson on how to lead a healthy lifestyle in this month’s meeting.

The group began in 2015 to join together a group of like-minded friends to engage in discussions on the third Friday of each month to discuss a wide variety of topics. Over the past three years, there have been about 45 speakers and many interesting outings, all of which had been greatly enjoyed by members.

Josephine Petrie will give a talk on 15 June about digestive tracts and probiotics. Petrie has worked with microbiologists for 18 years and gives talks to dieticians, homoeopaths, doctors and health shops.

She will give a slideshow presentation on the human digestive tract, the engine room of the body, and how good bacteria are essential to our health. She will also discuss the different types of probiotics available and how to make the right choice based on the knowledge of how they work and boost the immune system. She will also discuss prebiotics and the misconception about them.

The talk will be followed by a delicious tea that is shared by all in the garden, along with a sampling of some probiotics. This month, the talk will take place in Bryanston.

Previously the group has enjoyed outings to art galleries and have had discussions on relaxation techniques and stress management, among other things.

Details: Anyone who is interested in attending can contact Shelley on 083 409 7927 to find out the address.
