Two criminals handed jail sentences

SANDTON – Two suspects were recently sentenced to 12 and 15 years imprisonment for house robbery.

 

Randburg police recently welcomed the convictions and sentencing imposed on two men involved in two separate incidents of violent crimes.

This according to Captain Makgowanyana Maja, spokesperson for the Randburg Police Station, who said Nyaphafa Baloyi was sentenced to 15 years direct imprisonment by the Randburg Magistrate Court for house robbery.

Maja said Baloyi and his accomplices entered the victim’s property on the corner of Cedar and Aspen roads in Bryanston on 19 November 2011 at about 2am.

They broke through the door using a crowbar.

“They woke up the victim and his family, tied them up and took valuables including electrical appliances and fled the scene.

“The case docket was opened for investigation. The docket was assigned to the investigating officer who tracked down the suspect and arrested him,”

Maja said Baloyi went to all the court proceedings until he was convicted.

In a separate incident, Sipho Ngema was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment for a house robbery on 3 March 2016.

The incident ocurred at about 4am on Woodlands Avenue in Hurlingham Manor, Randburg.

“The victim was sleeping whenNgema woke her up. She was tied up, her face covered with blankets and the suspects then stole electrical appliances.”

Maja said he was later arrested.
