UPDATE: Woman murdered while jogging in Marlboro Gardens, police launch manhunt

MARLBORO GARDENS – Unfortunately, the woman had already succumbed to her injuries and she was declared dead at the scene.

Update, 23 May, 9.30am:

Captain Mohlaume Mamabolo, spokesperson for the Sandringham Police station confirmed that a manhunt has been launched after a female jogger was shot and killed at Zinnia Drive and Aloe Cresent in Marlboro Gardens.

“No suspects have been arrested and a case of murder has been opened,” said Mamabolo.

 

Earlier, 22 May, 2pm:

A woman, believed to be in her 20s, was shot and killed while jogging along Zinnia Drive in Marlboro Gardens.

ER24 paramedics, along with the City of Johannesburg EMS, arrived on the scene at 7am to find local authorities already in attendance.

Upon closer inspection, paramedics found the body of a woman lying on the sidewalk. Assessments showed that the woman had sustained a gunshot wound to her chest, as well as her abdomen.

Unfortunately, the woman had already succumbed to her injuries. Nothing more could be done for her and she was declared dead at the scene.

The exact details are not known to paramedics but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
