SANDTON – Lack of information is the reason why the police are failing to arrest criminals.

According to domestic watch and the South African Police Service customer training’s Penny Steyn, the biggest problem the police have is a lack of information.
Steyn said she believes that if people reported criminal activities to the police, this would have a positive impact on security companies as well.
“It can also positively help the security companies who also need information, where possible, to be effective in the work they do,” said Steyn.
Towards the end of the month, she will be presenting a comprehensive lesson named ‘How you can positively affect South Africa – What and how to report crime information anonymously’.
She said there is a lot of information in the upcoming lessons and it is very important for the community to take part. “There is a great deal of detail to this lesson and I am extremely careful about how I teach them this topic because I have to make sure that they are never traced and become victims themselves if they have information and the perpetrators find out who passed on the info,” she said.
Dates for the lessons are as follows:
- 23 May at Gallo Manor Community Centre at 10am
- 23 May at Christ Church Sandton at 11.30am
- 23 May at SAPS station (which one) Lapa at 13.30pm
- 29 May at Rosebank Union Church at 10am
- 31 May at Imvula Skills Centre at 12.30pm.
