Local entrepreneur crafts handmade items

PARKMORE – A local entrepreneur sells her handcrafted items at the Field Market in Parkmore

Christy Harrison and her mom Denise are partners and started Harrison Lee and Co five years ago crafting fabric bags from their home-based operation. They eventually expanded their operation to include custom leather items.

Christy is 26 years old and studied costume makeup and styling. “I enjoy the costume side of things and have a love for fashion.

“We converted the garage into a showroom and it is open to anyone that would like to pop in and have a cup of coffee.”

She said they do a lot of custom items such as camera straps. “They were requested leather piece from a friend, and they were quite popular so we made more.”

They also make handbags, travel wallets, duffle and yoga bags. The leather used for these items are locally sourced.

“We have a lot of items that are once-off pieces,” Christy said and added that a lot of friends send in custom orders which they can then change and experiment with different colours to see what works.

In conclusion, she said they do have plans to move into fashion items such as children’s clothes and unisex clothing items.
