Forest Farm residents treated to Lindt Chocolate Studio tour

BRYANSTON – Residents from Forest Farm were treated to a day of chocolate-making and tasting at the Lindt Chocolate Studio.

Residents from Forest Farm Centre in Bryanston were treated to a visit to the Lindt Chocolate Studio.

The residents were shown around the studio and were taken on an amazing journey through the history of Lindt and its chocolate-making process.

Forest Farm Centre is a residential facility for adults with cerebral palsy, which is a condition sustained at birth or in infancy and leads to mobility and cognitive disabilities.

Bulelwa Mahura, a social worker at the Forest Farm Centre said, “The presentation was peppered with beautiful moments where residents’ senses were tantalised by the aromas and textures of the different ingredients. Of course, the best part was the tasting.”

The residents got to taste six different chocolates, as well as one of the raw ingredients used in the chocolate-making process. “The residents and management of Forest Farm would like to express sincere gratitude to the studio for making this experience possible for the residents, free of charge.”

Mahura added that it is community members whose generosity makes it possible for Forest Farm to be a “home away from home” for the residents.

“Forest Farm would also like to thank the security personnel from Advance Parking, Rofhiwa Makhado and Delani Mkhize, who were helpful in assisting the residents to access the premises of the Lindt studio. A little understanding can go a long way in making our society more accessible to people with disabilities.”

Mahura added that she would encourage community members to get involved with the centre. Those who are interested may contact her on 011 789 3008 or bulelwa@forest-farm.org.
