The third annual Purple Day walk and toiletry drive were even bigger this year, with so many generous people especially scouts from the district, Stratum Benefits, DHL and Hair Colonel Barber shop participating.
The walk aimed at raising awareness for those with epilepsy but also to collect much-needed items for a variety of homes.
Tania van Heerden, one of the main organisers said, “The value of the donations were more than R30 000 as DHL had sponsored R10 000 worth of goods as many large nappies are needed for bigger children in wheelchairs.”
Stratum Benefits staff delivered the donations in person and even wore purple clothing to work on 26 March to show their support.
Many donations were delivered on the day of the walk and the balance to the Van Heerden home. “We still need hotels and guest houses to donate their good quality second-hand linen so that we can assist the homes,” concluded Van Heerden
