At about 12.08pm, Netcare 911 responded to an accident on the N1 between the Buccleuch interchange and Rivonia off-ramp southbound.
On arrival, Netcare 911 found a truck that had jack-knifed blocking several lanes and another vehicle pushed against the barrier wall in the fast lane.
Upon assessment, Netcare 911 and other emergency medical services found three occupants from the accident. According to Tebogo Magoro, marketing and communications officer for Netcare 911, one person had ejected from the truck and was declared dead at the scene.
Paramedics attended to a male truck driver and the female vehicle driver who both sustained minor to moderate injuries, and were transported to hospital for further medical care.
The exact cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
